Central Moving provided office relocation, project management, and the moving of libraries and fine art to the United Nations in a two-part project: relocating one million square feet and 5,000 people from UN Headquarters, including the entire Secretariat Building, to seven separate locations across the city, and then moving them back again to the UN property once the renovation was complete.
Challenge: For this unique project, enormous in scope, our challenge was to move the entire UN staff and all existing furniture, reference areas, storage areas, and libraries while UN property was totally renovated. We moved existing furniture, contents, and equipment off of UN property into short-term leased space in the Turtle Bay section of Manhattan and then relocated the entire staff back to the UN following the renovation.
Central Moving: In addition to the obvious logistical challenges of working in eight locations simultaneously, the project required the highest level of security possible. Before starting work on this move, all of our team underwent thorough background checks conducted by UN security.
